When you adjust the strap by pulling it through the metal ring, you can change the configuration. Now you have the option of carrying a bag either slung over your shoulder or in back pack fashion.
There are two convenient pockets in the front of the bag and a single pocket in the back of the bag when you use it as a back pack. All the pockets are zippered. You can also use the main pocket of the 'tote' configured bag if you need to. Four pocket sections in total.
The back pack strap can be used either as single strap to be slung over your shoulder, or it can be unzipped to form 2 straps to be worn as traditional back pack.
When you pull the strap through the metalic ring, the shape of the bag will change: it now becomes 'tote shaped' and besides the 3 zippered pockets from above, there is a large main pocket that you can store items. It is great for shopping, traveling and school.
