Emanuel's wooden Havdalah spice box with birds perched among the vines invite you to partake in the lovely smell of the spices included within.

The hand painted wooden box is painted with a brush and then several coats of lacquer are applied making the box water resistant.

The end of Shabbat is marked with the Havdalah service. We pass around and smell a cermonial spice box, called a Hadas. 'Hadas' is the Hebrew word for the myrtle, a lovely aromatic shrub, the branches of which were passed around by the Hebrews' ancestors in their Havdalah rituals.

Folklore describes this custom as a remedy Jews used to revive and console themselves after they supposedly lost their 'extra souls' at the end of each Sabbath.

Size: Rectangular spice box 2 x 1.6 x 1 inches [5x4x3cm].
